ABOUT

Hi, I’m Anthony, and welcome to my website. I’m a freelance journalist, editor, proofreader and travel photographer with more than 13 years’ experience creating, managing and improving content. I’m a travel writer at heart, and I’ve travelled all over my native South Africa and to more than 25 countries in search of adventure, inspiration and bizarre injuries. I’ve trekked to Everest base camp, chased Irrawaddy dolphins in the Mekong Delta, circumnavigated Taiwan on a scooter, watched sunrise from the summit of Mt Fuji, learned to ski in Lesotho, survived being run over by a Toyota Camry in Thailand, and dived with manta rays in Indonesia. Somehow I’m still alive.

Aside from travel, I write about technology, business, logistics, sustainability, outreach and healthcare. My stories and photographs have been published in National Geographic Traveller, Financial Mail Travel, enVoyage, Khuluma, Mango Juice, and numerous Business Day and Sunday Times publications. I’ve interviewed entrepreneurs, rappers, actors, conspiracy theorists and a blind extreme athlete. I’ve guest written letters for comedians and CEOs, and reviewed hotels as a woman.

I’m also an experienced project manager, having edited books on topics ranging from how to pass your driver’s test to tying the perfect trout fly, and managed more than 60 magazines from conception through to publication. I’m a meticulous copy editor and language specialist, and I’ve helped native and non-native speakers and writers improve their English usage.

Aside from journalism, I’m comfortable writing press releases, website copy and branded content both subtle and otherwise, crafting brand identity, ghostwriting, rewriting and localising content. I’m adaptable to varying styles, voices and audiences, and I relish a challenge. If you’d like to work together, please get in touch.
